Halloween 2010

If you love Halloween, you're in luck because there are plenty of ways for you to celebrate this weekend! Here are a few art-related festivities.

Thursday, Oct 28

Get your pumpkin carving on tonight at The Hideout. Double bourbons and sharp knives - isn't that a little dangerous? Who cares because as Greg points out, Harborview is really close! This will be lots of fun and kicks off a brand new First Hill tradition. Starting at 6pm, the Sorrento will be accepting pumpkin drop-offs for the 1st Annual First Hill Pumpkin Carving Contest. They'll be packing the courtyard for the big decision on Sunday at 6pm. Anyone can drop off a pumpkin! @ The Hideout more info

Friday, Oct 29

The Living Room will be hosting the Halloween ARTISTS' BALL from 8pm to 2am. Amanda Manitach has created a fun night of music, costume, booze and general artistic mayhem.
ART THEMED, of course. Dress as a work of art or as an artist, etc. Haute masquerade, artistes! Picasso and his bull, perchance? Morris Graves, a vivisected Damien Hirst, a hard shiny Koons, Louise Bourgeois and her buxom Fillette.....?
I've heard about a couple of the costumes. Dang, people are creative! This should be loads of fun. Hopefully, there will be some of my favorite/confounding candy mix by Jason Hirata. @ The Living Room more info

Wow! As part of their Finally Friday series, Bellevue Art Museum is hosting quite a party complete with a magician and a psychic. Music by WD4D and Scratchmaster Joe, drinks, candy, performances, artist walk through with April Surgent. Other exhibitions include Ginny Ruffner and the BAM Biennial Clay Throwdown! @ Bellevue Art Museum more info

Saturday, October 30

Vermillion is hosting a dance party called the Undead Discotheque. Music includes Eardrumz, Jon Francois, Scratchmaster Me, and Live:Birds and a Band.
Are you afraid to be alone in the dark? Do you ever get scared when you think of all the bridge and tunnel monsters that'll be out on Halloween? Do you shriek at the sight of a shiny shirt? Fear not little ones, we're ready. For an eternity of dance. We'll protect you. From monsters. We promise. Now just, DANCE!
So many fun things on the hill! @ Vermillion more info

From 7-10 pm, Ghost Gallery will be having a Halloween party. $5 gets you, "Classic Halloween Decor, Art by Michelle Smith-Lewis, Corey Urlacher & Morbid Anatomy, music, keg, wine & a Costume Contest! Winner of Most Beautifully Creepy Costume receives a Ghost Gallery Membership and a Special Gift." @ Ghost Gallery more info

The First Hill triangle of The Hideout, the Sorrento and Vito's will be fertile costume territory as folks bounce between the 3 places.
From the Hideout, to the Hunt Club, to Vito's and all points in-between, we are going to transform these two blocks of First Hill into a parade of costumes, parties and general spook. From 7:00 pm to 2:00 am First Hill bars will be abuzz with live music, drink specials and decoration. And one dazzling costumed person will walk (or crawl) away with our $500.00 cash prize. So get your costumes into gear! The winner will be announced at the stroke of midnight at Vito’s.
If you want to make things easy after all the celebrating, check yourself into the Sorrento as part of their Costume Crawl rate of $129. more info

Sunday, October 31
