Ambrotypes by Daniel Carrillo

Daniel Carrillo is documenting the Seattle art scene in a series of ambrotypes. The first time you see them, you're struck by their old timey-ness. But after seeing so many of them, the immediate novelty fades away and you just notice the pictures for what they are - amazing! His lighting, his focus, his poses - all come together in a really cool vintage ambrotype.

Folks have been enchanted by this process and many of us who have had a photo made end up writing about it. Emily, Susanna, Mandy, Sharon, and I'm sure I'm missing others.

Some bad-ass old-timey Santa Claus

This is a labor of love for Daniel. He mentioned that he's booked solid this month (and I think he did 2-3 today alone). For our sitting it took about 2-1/2 hours. Poor fella, he's going to be busy for quite a while!

Thanks Daniel - I'm so happy to be a part of such a cool project.
