After eating lamb shanks, risotto, salad (and prosciutto wrapped around bread sticks -- meat on a stick!), I rolled (okay, drove) up the hill to Sandy Cioffi's NYE party. This was my second year and it felt nice to have a new tradition since the boys left.
Sandy also did a great midnight toast challenging individuals (esp. gay individuals) to stand up for immigration rights/immigrants this upcoming year. "When one is oppressed, all are oppressed."
This party has a ritual where you write down things you want to get rid of from 2007 and things you want to bring in with 2008. I burned all 2007 and just wanted to start over in 2008. I'm excited and optimistic and just know it's going to be a fantastic year.
One party-goer wanted to burn 'stupidity'. After 5 minutes, the flames still hadn't touched it. We decided that was the human condition.
